Virginia Lanier is the Anthony Award-winning author of Death in Bloodhound Red. She has another winner in A Bloodhound to Die For. Lanier has combined her love for bloodhounds and a talent for writing in this, her sixth book in the series.

Jo Beth Siddon's occupation, and avocation, is training bloodhounds for search and rescue. Simple, right? Except for a prisoner in a nearby jail who has the hots for her. He has a tendency to rebel against confinement and escapes, leading to unwanted attention from him and his family. An old lady suffering from dementia wanders away from her caretaker husband. Since they live on the edge of the Okefenokee Swamp, the rescue is not without adventure. Add to that mix an irate wife confronting her husband and his girl friend. With a shotgun, no less. But the dogs are a main thrust in this primer on how to raise and love bloodhounds. I've added to my knowledge of info I shall probably never use but am glad I know. The Okefenokee Swamp, located in Georgia, must be an awesome place. Have heard of it but never ventured even near it. Now I feel as though I've been there and luckily escaped without a mosquito bite.

The story is fast-paced with loads of action. The characters are worth knowing. Hank, the local sheriff and sometime boyfriend of Jo Beth, is a winner. As are her girlfriends with their own set of problems. A Bloodhound to Die For is a good book, worth reading and recommending.
