my Goodman is an award-winning journalist and host of a daily hour-long talk show that is a '
beacon for passionate, critical, and hard-hitting news.
' Her comments '
turned Charlie Rose red in the face. Bill Clinton called her "hostile, combative, and even disrespectful." Newt Gingrich said to her, "You’re the kind of reporter I warned my mother about."
' This is just some of what has been said about her. Cracking the pages of her book will put the reader in touch with a woman who is concerned about the world and the people in it. Not afraid to travel the globe to find out what is happening in the hot spots for herself, she reports what she sees on her show – and in this book.
am not much for reading about politics – hate to admit that, but I find the accounts repetitive. And who can you believe? I picked up this book on a whim and found it hard to put down. Amy Goodman tackles the hot shots in the public eye and cuts them down to size. And for every explosive lie that she exposes, she shares sources with us. I can't summarize the book's content - there isn't space for that. Read it for yourself and see what an influence on our lives the media has - and what influence the powers that be have on the media. It's downright scary, starting back in WWII when Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed and reporters were forbidden to go to those sites. It took some time for the world to discover that radiation fallout was killing people as surely as the explosion did.
he Exception to the Rulers
is a hot book on very hot topics. The chapter headings alone say a lot - '
Drilling and Killing: Chevron and Nigeria's Oil Dictatorship
State Media, American Style
Things Get Messy with Sally Jessy
'; or '
In Bed with the Military
'. Find out what Amy Goodman believes is happening. She has sources to back her up and, so far, she hasn't been shut down.
