How many words can you think of to rhyme with 'manatee'? Bet you don't come up with as many as John Lithgow does in his delightfully uplifting song about a little boy who dreams of being a Manatee ... 'A modest manatee, / That's me.'

His green-face-masked mother adds humor as she tries to peek into her son's dream and ends up dripping seawater. And Ard Hoyt's illustrations are superb, enticing us all to ocean dreaming in the manatee 'world of silence and of sanity'.

Dreams of flying are common, after all. In his dream, the boy flies weightless under the sea, surrounded by his engaging friends. Kids will learn a little about the manatee, along with a few big words that rhyme with it, but mostly they'll enjoy the cheerful verses and envy the young swimmer.

Who needs a teddy bear? Cuddle up with a 'No difference between my face and fann-atee' manatee instead, play the song (the score is included) or sing along with John Lithgow in the CD. I love this one!!
