Joshilyn Jackson writes excellent and compelling thrillers exposing the steely strength that underlies the grace of Southern women, like gods in Alabama and Someone Else's Love Story.

Here's another, Missing Sister. It opens 'From the first night I laid eyes on Thalia Gray, I knew she was a stone-cold killer.' The speaker is rookie cop Penny Albright, who joined the police after the death of her twin sister Nicolette. Penny held responsible a trio of men, college drug dealers. They had gang raped Nix, who turned to drugs that eventually killed her.

Penny and her mentor Delilah are called to a major crime scene - the stabbed victim is Danny Bowery, one of the trio - a second was murdered months before. On her own searching the scene and following a scent, Penny comes upon the killer, Thalia, who tells her it's about Sisters. Pen feels a connection, and lets her go.

After Penny's suspended on suspicion of improper actions at the crime scene, she meets with Nix's final ex, Michael Sullivan, and shares what happened. Then Penny meets Thalia and, helped by her hacker niece Shadow, learns what motivated her. The story continues to twist and turn to a shocking, action-packed conclusion.
