The relationship between twins has to be closer than that between or among other siblings. And that is especially the case with Mita and Dolores in Liar's Dice. They are identical and inseparable; one without the other is unthinkable. The story is written from Dolores' point of view, and she provides us with a rich description of their life in Brazil.

Though they are identical they are different. Dolores is the lead because of Mita's health issues. When these increase Dolores becomes mute in solidarity. According to Dolores, their parents made a big mistake in sending Mita away to a special place in far away London. As time passes, she begins to think Mita has forgotten her, and she becomes obsessed with seeing her again.

How Dolores manages her own education both in school and with her new friend Andrea, who introduces her to a world she would never have found on her own, is a truly interesting story that shows us a generous and bright young woman who is truly family to those she loves.
