The Body in the Web is the twenty-sixth in Katherine Hall Page's deservedly popular series starring Faith Fairchild (part-time sleuth, minister's wife, and caterer). Faith originally moved to idyllic (aside from its murder stats) small town town Aleford, Massachusetts from New York, but retained her wit and, at times, world-weary cynicism.

This episode opens in 2021, during the pandemic. The family has adjusted as everyone had to - Zoom sermons by Tom, remote learning for college student Ben and high schooler Amy, and catering dinners to deliver for Faith. They do their best to help community members, especially the more vulnerable. Life does go on - folk fall in love, babies are born, moves are made.

Then, Faith's friend Claudia, who teaches art, is targeted. Damaging photos of her are Zoom bombed into a town hall meeting. Faith is upset when Claudia decides to move, and devastated when she later finds her friend dead. Though the police and even Tom assume suicide, Faith does not and, as expected, digs down herself to find the perp.
