The Wayward Prince is the seventh in in Leonard Goldberg's cozy mystery spin on the Holmes/Watson partnership. It stars widowed Joanna Blalock, the daughter of Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler. After she became aware of her heritage, she teamed up with the elderly Watson and his son, Dr. John Watson, Jr., who fell hard for Joanna's looks, intelligence, and forensic talents. They later married.

As this episode opens, the Great War is raging and Irene's son (by her first marriage) Johnny is at Eton. The detectives are called urgently to 10 Downing Street. Prince Harry, third in line to the throne, has vanished while riding in Hyde Park and it's suspected that Germans have abducted him and plan to transport him to Berlin. Of course, the Watsons take on the case, making good use of the Baker Street Irregulars.

Their intricate investigation leads to a pub in Whitechapel, 'the crime capital of London', abortion, murder, German spies, and treason. But the 'new Napoleon of crime' pulling the strings has vengeance in mind. Attacks replicate past ones on Sherlock Holmes, and Joanna is the target. Holmes fans will particularly enjoy this engaging mystery series.
