He introduced her in The Nemesis Manifesto, when she worked for a black-ops arm of the U.S. Department of Defense. Now, in this fourth in the series, she works for quantum-computing firm Parachute, which engages in world class private espionage. This time, she and Ben Butler investigate the possibility that quantum technology has been weaponized. I do recommend your reading the earlier episodes before this one as there are frequent references to the back story. The thriller opens on the sudden death of the U.S. Secretary of Defense on a golf course. North of Moscow, a Russian quantum scientist dies while hunting in the forest. Neither death was from natural causes - and others follow. Evan's quest for answers takes her to Istanbul and the Canary Islands, with constant close brushes with death (which no whit slow her down!) Other players are busy in Moscow and Langley, Virginia, with Evan's old friend Lyudmila busily pulling strings. As we expect, Evan averts world disaster once more, and this episode ends with hints of what's coming next for her - on a very personal front.
