Gillian McAllister, author of Just Another Missing Person, brings fans another gripping puzzler in Famous Last Words. As the story opens in a London summer, Camilla Deschamps is ending nine months of maternity leave, about to drop infant Polly at daycare and resume her work as a literary agent.

She finds an odd note from her husband Luke, a writer. At work, there's breaking news - seems that Luke has taken three hostages, in a warehouse - surreal! As a shocked Camilla is interviewed by police, readers meet hostage negotiator Niall, who tries to prevent his colleagues from going in shooting. He sees that Luke looks frightened - why? One hostage is released, there are two gunshots, two unidentified bodies, and no Luke.

Fast forward seven years. Cam can't move on. There's still occasional police surveillance of her, but others are watching her too. Clues start to surface, both to Cam and to Niall, who remains obsessed with the case and his failure to save the hostages. As he learns more, he worries that Cam is heading into danger, and she is. It all comes together in a ghostwriter's manuscript that tells a very tall tale.
