', but that 8 million pieces enter our oceans every year (where they absorb chemicals before entering the food chain) and that the sea currently contains 51 trillion pieces of plastic!
hat's to be done? There are ongoing initiatives around the world, and this book offers 101 habit changing ideas to stop relying on plastic as we currently do. Suggestions are grouped into chapters:

'; jarred toothpaste; avoiding synthetic polyesters when shopping for clothes; wearing sunscreen packaged in plastic-free materials; requesting less packaging on online orders. Reducing use of plastics at the source can be effective ... if enough of us do, and demand, it.
