L. C. Shaw's The Network is a fast moving conspiracy thriller that opens on a desperate plea for help. Investigative journalist Jack Logan lost the love of his life to U.S. Senator Malcolm Phillips. Now Phillips shows up at his apartment out of the blue, insisting that his own death is imminent and demanding Jack's help to protect his wife Taylor. He dies soon afterwards.

Learning of the Senator's supposedly accidental death, Jack rushes to Taylor (who is pregnant) and gets there just in time. They go on the run together, while trying to make sense of what's happening. Readers root for them as they survive attacks by the skin of their teeth. At the same time, Shaw introduces his powerful villain, Damon Crosse (whose resources seem endless) and his mind-washing Institute.

A letter from Phillips sends Jack and Taylor in search of a man named Jeremy. News media report Taylor's disappearance as a possible abduction - by Jack - and a murder is soon attributed to him as well. Jack and Taylor find possible allies, but can they trust them? There are links to a Nazi occult group and to the 'thirty silver pieces Judas received for betraying Jesus'.

Though all highly improbable, The Network is an engrossing, action-packed thriller that conspiracy theorists will devour.
