Rupture: Dark Iceland #4    by Ragnar Jonasson Order:  USA  Can Minotaur, 2019 (2019) Hardcover, Softcover, e-Book      Reviewed by Hilary Williamson Ragnar Jonasson continues his Dark Iceland series in Rupture, the fourth following Blackout. The series features police officer Ari Thor Arason, whom we've followed since he accepted a job in northern Iceland's remote fishing village of Siglufjordur. His personal life is improving (he's back with his former fiancee Kristin) but Siglufjordur is under quarantine, with most people staying in their homes and avoiding contact with others. This leads to Ari Thor's investigation, in parallel with that of Reykjavik journalist Ísrún, of a very cold (fifty year old) case. In a remote, isolated fjord, a woman died from rat poison in her coffee. It was ruled accidental but her nephew now asks Ari Thor to look into it. Ísrún is intrigued when Ari Thor mentions it to her and starts digging. Complicating matters for her, a child is missing in Reykjavik, and this of course is a higher priority for everyone. The mysteries are well developed, with surprising twists and turns, but what I enjoy most about this series are its characters, and Ísrún is beginning to intrigue me even more than Ari Thor. This is a series well worth following and Rupture is the best episode yet.
