This new mystery was presented to me as 'A fun, fresh and feisty new mystery featuring a to-die-for-cast of characters, a sensational storyline and a captivating plot'. I now pass those words on to fans of Diane A.S. Stuckart, whose Fool's Moon is the first of a new series.

Ruby Sparks, a South Florida grad student, works for her half-sister Rosa in the latter's new-age shop. Rosa is taking a break, leaving Ruby in charge. The only problem with that is that the shop offers Tarot readings and Ruby doesn't feel competent to give a valid one.

Enter Ophelia and Brandon – the brother and sister black cats join a pitbull friend at the shop. The cats have lost their dear friend in what the animals believe is the murder of their mother.

Fool's Moon is a wonderful first entry of a new series. I loved the cats and the dog's conversations. After a few pages of reading of the animals' investigation, I was beginning to wonder if any of my late pets could really speak - and what they thought of me! Probably don't want to go there. Don't miss this delightful book.
