Leo Selver can't believe his luck when beautiful and desirable Judy Latimer shows an obvious interest in him, a humble, middle-aged antiques dealer.

The two are found dead in each other's arms. It is speculated that Leo killed Judy and then himself. Leo's wife knew of her husband's transgressions, but refused to believe he killed his paramour.

This is where an old friend and ex-policeman, Ed Buchanan, steps into the picture. Ed has known the Selvers for years and years and agrees to try to find the actual killer. He, also, cannot believe that his old friend would kill someone.

Ed's search takes him to some of the seamier parts of London – a really interesting tour that gets suspenseful as he digs deeper into the antiques trade. He uncovers a secret that someone felt they had to kill to keep. Now to find that person!

The End of the Web by George Sims is worth a read. Published in 1976, its plot still proves enjoyable.
