Here's a new rhymed counting picture book, Count Your Chickens, written by Jo Ellen and illustrated (in the style of Richard Scarry) by Lori Joy Smith.

It's all about 'Chickens, chickens everywhere / going to the county fair. / Turn the page to join the fun - / count some chickens! Start with one.' Watch a myriad of chickens preparing and heading out (aside from the 'chicks with chicken pox' I assume).

At the fair, they all have fun - 'Chickens on the Ferris wheel / shriek with laughter, scream and squeal.' And finally they head back, 'Little chickens, overfed, / carried home and put to bed.'

At the end are thirteen counting challenges for the young reader, like 'How many chickens are in the sack race?' (answers on the next page). Young readers will have fun counting their chickens.
