Christine Steinmeyer is the host of a very popular radio show. On Christmas Eve, she receives an anonymous suicide note, sure that it wasn't meant for her. Seemingly a young girl is blaming someone for the despair in her life and Anonymous states that she is ending her time on earth. Christine questions the neighbors in her apartment building but no one seems to know anything about the letter.

Commandant Martin Servas currently resides in a home for depressed cops. Servaz is pulled into this dilemma by the cold case of a young artist who committed suicide several years ago. Could this letter be tied into that happening? In the meantime, Christine is subject to frightening episodes of her apartment being broken into and little clues being left behind even though she has a new security system. How does anyone break in and why?

Her job in jeopardy, Christine has lost all sense of reality and now lives in fear. Can she even trust those who are closest to her? The shocking ending of Don't Turn Out the Lights might have you questioning those you have known all your life.
