Raphael Rosen's Math Geek: From Klein Bottles to Chaos Theory, a Guide to the Nerdiest Math Facts, Theorems, and Equations is a compilation of mathematical facts put into an easy to read format and tied back to real world phenomena which everyone can relate to (like how to divide a cake evenly).
The depth and breath of the subjects covered is surprisingly large, from statistics to geometry to purer mathematics. Some of the topics it introduces readers to are ones that I remember covering more in depth at University.
So I would recommend this book to anyone interested in real world mathematical applications, and also as an introductory text to make you aware of the wide and wonderful world of math.
