This charming middle grade series, for young readers ages seven to twelve, begins with a tragic mystery. Forest creatures are going missing at night!

Enter the Nocturnal Brigade, a sleuthing trio of the unlikeliest pairings: a cute pangolin named Tobin, a cunning fox named Dawn, and a rather, let's just say, boisterous, sugar glider by the name of Bismark.

As the Nocturnal Brigade tries to find a missing wombat, they discover that many more animals have gone missing as well. New friends join the hunt, but can they all be trusted? What with vicious crocodiles and the most mean game of something akin to hockey, the brigade and company all learn that they 'must all face our truths.'

Morals and life lessons geared for youngsters are so much more fun when told by talking animals. And the color illustrations at the start of each chapter give faces to our new furry friends as we embark on our sleuthing adventure.

I quickly fell in love with this whimsical quest. The talking animals full of attitude and character are a particularly charming aspect, resulting in a book I couldn't put down.
