Dealing with stress and being able to perform under pressure and adversity are characteristics that some individuals seem to be born with. The authors of this book don't necessarily agree that one can't be taught to successfully cope with adversity. Resilient individuals confront adversity head-on and bounce back from any setbacks they may encounter. This is because of an attitude they possess that enables them to cope. This attitude can be developed to enable a person to handle stress and overcome obstacles.

Drawing on a wealth of research, scientific analysis, interviews with resilient people working in stressful occupations and other material, the authors pinpoint the traits that define these resilient professionals. They also explain how the reader can develop this characteristic by using a series of self-assessment questionnaires, taking to heart a number of empowering stories and following prescriptions for fostering attitudes that will develop resiliency.

Once the reader has enhanced his or her resilience, he/she will be able to make better decisions under pressure, achieve peak performance, uncover hidden opportunities, and recover quickly from setbacks while boosting personal physical and psychological energy.

Whether it is on the playing field, work place or in personal relationships, being able to call on one's deep reserves of strength will benefit an individual in myriad ways and make for a happier and more productive life. Stronger offers a pathway to a less stressful existence by showing how to develop core factors that will enhance personal resilience.
