1918. Captain Alan Clinton is on his way to the Western Front. In Paris, he is seduced by Marie Roget, a young Frenchwoman. Overcome by her wiles, he reveals British secrets with horrific consequences.

Seventeen years later, Europe is looking at another war. The central European new State of Ronstadt has been ruthlessly ruled by Dictator Kuhnreich, who could give Hitler a run for his money. Clinton's son travels to Europe as things grow very tense in that area. Bobby seems doomed to repeat the sin of his father and is arrested as a spy for Kuhnreich. Can his girlfriend prove his innocence?

The Traitor has stood the test of time. First published in 1936 by the British Library Classic Thrillers, it has been reissued by Poisoned Pen Press. I've read many of these classics so far and am impressed by the writers of yesterday. The Traitor is a good read.
