Wouldn't It Be Deadly author D. E. Ireland has done it again. Paired Henry Higgins and Eliza Doolittle for another romp of doing what they seem to do well – solve murders!

Henry and Eliza are at the posh Royal Ascot, that big horse racing extravaganza where everyone dresses up to see and be seen – and to bet on their own horses. Fortunes are made as well as lost in moments over the outcome of these races.

Eliza's father is one of the co-owners of what he considers the best horse to come along in years, Donegal Dancer. Unfortunately, other co-owners are being found lifeless, thereby eliminating payout to a corpse. More for the survivors. But it seems as though the murders are more complicated than that.

D. E. Ireland (actually two authors pairing their wit and wisdom to create a fun and delightful series) have crafted another whimsical read. I found Eliza to be smart but fun-loving. Not a dizzy blonde type. She has a mind and loves to use it.

Henry is getting older and is a bit gruff. Which pairs well with Eliza. I fell in love with Eliza's stepmother. The cast needed an embarrassment with which to deal. She is a true delight. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.
