Author Steve Martini brings his protagonist Paul Madriani back to the printed page in The Enemy Inside. A seemingly innocent man, Alex Ives, has been accused of causing a spectacular accident in which a woman was burnt beyond recognition because, it was alleged, Ives was under the influence of alcohol.

The dead woman, Olinda Serna, had been one of the most successful lawyers in the country. As such, she knew the dirty secrets of her clients - secrets involving corruption and greed. Was this an arranged death and, if so, how was it orchestrated? Because Alex didn't perish in the conflagration, is his life now at risk? Unsure, his defense lawyer, Paul Madriani, decides to hide him.

Madriani sets investigators on the trail of Serna's clients - wealthy big shots avoiding paying income tax on monies hidden in offshore and European accounts. Martini uses his book to remind us all about this bilking of government coffers. He has legitimate beefs about the middle class paying the bills while hotshots go abroad with their money to hide it from the tax collectors.

But, back to this exciting book. The Enemy Inside thrills the reader with danger, excitement, dead bodies, the newest in electronic gadgets, greed, corruption, tension, murder and an ending that will keep you wondering where this author has been all your life. He's not been hiding. He has written numerous bestsellers including Trader of Secrets, The Rule of Nine, Guardian of Lies, Shadow of Power, and Double Tap. The Enemy Within should be on your next-to-read list.
