Written by Pierre LeMaitre, these three books present the diminutive Camille to his readers. All three work as stand-alone books also. Anne Forestier is caught in a raid on a notable jewelry store on the Champs-Elysees. Shot three times and brutally beaten, she barely survives. Because she can identify the men involved in the heist, she is guarded night and day in her hospital room. Unpleasantly so. The guard doesn't seem to understand that he must stay outside her room. Anne happens to be Camille's lover. He recognizes the danger she is in. Against Camille's admonishments, she manages to escape her guard and the hospital. Camille daren't reveal his affair with Anne. It is strictly against regulations to be involved with someone connected to the case being worked. Camille risks his career to help Anne and it seems she just refuses to take his advice. Camille is only four feet eleven, but ignores his height problem and manages to assert his authority with the men working the robbery case with him. Until Anne arrived in his life, he filled his days with work. Now, he feels as though he can't run fast enough to protect the woman he loves. Camille proves to be an exciting story. Suspense reigns, closely followed by intervals of terror. Finely portrayed characters bring the story to life. The denouement is a real surprise. Never saw it coming. Irene and Alex are the first two of this trilogy and are both well worth your attention.
