When Simon's mother sends him off to America she admonishes him - 'don't forget to celebrate Hanukkah and its miracles ... Who knows? You may need a miracle on your long journey.'

Boy, was she right! When the ship he is on hits an iceberg and sinks, Simon is going to need more than just one miracle to survive. As you'll see, this lucky boy, due to some really unbelievable occurrences, makes it safely to New York City.

And in the years that follow, Simon always tells family and friends as they celebrate Hanukkah, 'Miracles aren't just for the Maccabees. They can happen to anyone, anywhere, even in the darkest of times. You just have to believe.'

Matthew Truman's illustrations are very engaging and make this story even more memorable. If you are looking for a Hanukkah gift for a young child, you just found it! This will quickly become a bedtime favorite.
