like the books in this
series that feature
because of their high interest content. Even a child who isn't overly anxious to begin reading will probably want to follow the adventures of these exceptional canines.
n this new book you'll meet Sadie. A black lab, Sadie works with firemen and her job is to sniff out the source of a fire during an arson investigation. Since her sense of smell is a hundred times stronger than that of her human handler, Sadie can do the job quickly and efficiently.
ou'll follow Sadie at work at a fire scene and see how she indicates she has found an important piece of evidence. When she's finished her job, the lab folks take over and test the evidence for the presence of a flammable substance.
real dog, Sadie was selected to attend the State Farm Arson Dog Program School in Maine and she was the model for the dog featured at the National Fire Dog Monument in Washington, D.C..
here's plenty of content in this Level Two reader and the illustrations capture the storyline perfectly. There's only one small problem. When you open the book you'll notice an ink/chemical smell that hopefully will eventually dissipate. I wonder how Sadie would react to this odor?
