Along the way you'll find a number of opposites as you page through this interactive book. On the cover page the first flaps shows the opposite of Up is, of course, Down! Other combinations include high and low, inside and outside, big and small, and over and under. Illustrated in muted color, Teckentrup's minimalist approach when it comes to the illustrations actually works rather well and highlights the little penguin and the opposites worked into the narrative. Make sure the child who receives this book is able to gently flip the flaps because they will tear if the reader is too hard on them. I don't dare send this to my granddaughter Brynn yet. She is still in the rip the flap stage so we'll have to wait until she's at least two before we try this lovely book.
