Just shy of his third birthday, Owen Suskind's life changed radically when the chatty child suddenly became mute. Here was another victim of autism but there was a different wrinkle to this sad story. Owen found solace watching Disney animated movies and they became the catalyst that eventually allowed his parents and others to break through the wall that separated the boy from the rest of the world.

A remarkable and touching story, this account of the Suskind's family ordeal (journey might be a better word) will entrance not just parents and those who must deal with autistic individuals on a daily basis but anyone who is interested in the remarkable things of which the human mind is capable.

It's a narrative you won't soon forget and one that might make you look at the Disney characters in a whole new manner. Filled with photos from the family album, Life, Animated concludes with a marvelous chapter, Sidekicks, written and illustrated by Owen. This is certainly a fitting way to wrap up this book!
