Elephants never forget? Cybele Young's Nancy Knows tells the story of an endearing elephant who 'knows she's forgotten something. Something important ...' What can it be?

Most of the illustrations simply show Nancy in different postures. But within the delightful elephant's outline are all kinds of odds and ends - and young readers will enjoy picking out the things she's thinking about. They fall into categories like clothes and places to go. For, often 'when Nancy tries to remember, she thinks of all kinds of other things.'

As Nancy explores her memory, readers learn about classes of things - the same color or shape, in the same and different orientations, past or future, or recognized through different senses. But it's only when Nancy stops trying that she does remember!

Readers, young and old, will relate to this charming story about struggling to remember - and kids just might pick up a few concepts about categorization along the way as they share what Nancy Knows.
