Summer storms often include thunder and lightning which can scare young children. We see in this picture book that storm clouds gather over a city and both adults and children race to the closet subway to get away from the rain, thunder and wind.

We see how the storm above makes friends of strangers gathering below. And when the clouds pass over, everyone emerges to go about their business or play.

The author's use of quirky wordplay and rhymes makes this a book the child can join in with, by providing the sound effects of the storm. For a youngster who is afraid of thunderstorms, Tap Tap Boom Boom might help dispel some of the negative feelings associated with this type of weather.
