Special foods are part of family celebrations like birthdays; national holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas; and cultural events like the Chinese New Year and the Festival of Lights in India.

This picture book highlights with full page photos some of the culinary delights that are enjoyed around the world when people gather for special celebrations. You'll also find a simple recipe for making charoset, an apple, date and raisin delight made during the celebration of Pesach in the Jewish community.

Since there isn't much text here, parents and teachers will discover ideas and activities listed at the back of the paperback that will help them expand this look at foods in various cultural celebrations. Food can be an ideal way of introducing a youngster to some of the unique differences between nations and peoples.
