Evie and Simon are often reminded of their manners and urged to always act like a little lady and gentleman. But what happens when their father exhibits less than proper manners at the table?

Although some adults may think this is not an appropriate situation, in this picture book the children must insist that Dad not slurp and burp, place his elbows on the table or generally act like a meal time savage.

'Ask politely when you want something passed to you. Be sure to say 'Please' and 'Thank you',' says Evie. 'And no yelling!' Simon adds.

After the crash course on table manners, Grandma comes to visit and she is duly impressed with everyone's table deportment, But then, something happens when dessert arrives that will surprise and delight everyone. It will also make the children's father end the book with 'Let's mind our manners, Mother.'

All the important table manners are addressed in a humorous way in this picture book. For parents who are not too hung up on this reversal of roles here, this book is an excellent means of teaching proper etiquette in a fun, silly, but effective, way.

Bon appetit (and don't play with your food!)
