Oh boy, does Ava Lee find herself in over her head in this latest adventure. In fact, at one point she wonders when the last time was that she had misjudged a situation so badly. And when was the last time she had misjudged a man so badly?

The man here is Captain Robbins, an individual who controls everything (police, politicians and criminals) in Guyana. Eva is on this godforsaken island to recover five million dollars her client lost in a bad business deal. As a forensic accountant, this is the type of job Ava excels at.

Unfortunately, in this instance she will have to work with Captain Robbins and that's probably not going to be a good idea. In fact, it is a very bad idea.

As you'll see, Ava has met her equal on this assignment and the interplay between these two characters will keep you turning pages. Unquestionably this is the best novel to date in this series. Part of the appeal of the stories has been the exotic settings and the considerable ability this resourceful heroine exhibits.

In this installment, though, Ava is tested more than she has been in the past. Of course, she passes with flying colors, but from its outset this is one very exciting journey that takes her halfway around the globe.

Not only does Ava have a unique profession but her partner, referred to as just Uncle, is as interesting a person as she is. Together they have engaged in some unusual assignments recovering money for their clients and each one seems to top its predecessor.
