Let the fun begin! Here's an innovative board book that features a series of pinwheels that can be spun by using the tab on the side of each one. Seven gaily colored pinwheels are worked into the designs of a steam engine rumbling through a birch forest, a bright sunflower, a school of fish, a very special merry-go-around horse, a dancing kite, a hot air balloon and a rainbow display of color that is reminiscent of a fireworks display.

As you spin each pinwheel it changes its geometric shape, which makes for some eye catching effects. The sunflower is quite dazzling, as is the cover piece and fireworks burst.

This book carries a warning that it is not appropriate or suitable for children under three years of age. Actually, the turning of the wheels might be a bit of a challenge for little fingers anyhow, but that should not be an issue with slightly older readers.

Besides children, adults who collect board books or pop-up books may be interested in this volume. Granted, there are no pop-ups here, but this really is quite a special book and it deserves a place on the shelf with the paper engineered books so many people like collecting.
