, this inexpensive paperback is aimed at youngsters just beginning to read alone. The short sentences, familiar vocabulary and engaging pictures make this an appealing book that the child can build his or her confidence on.
he jobs pictured here include teaching, being a mail carrier, construction work, and helping people move. Other occupations range from fire and law enforcement, medicine, and farming to the arts (dance and music), food preparation and working with animals as either a vet or zookeeper.
arents and teachers can use this little picture book to launch a discussion of other types of career choices. One way of doing this would be to have the
child make a notebook of jobs not found in the book. Write down the career and a sentence or two about what it involves. The child can then either find a magazine photo or one online, cut it out or reproduce it, and paste it onto the page along with the career description. Now how cool would that be?
