Not only that, but that it's a good one. The Llama of Death by Betty Webb is definitely a good one. I have enjoyed all of her books and am always happy to see a new one. Zookeeper Theodora (otherwise known as 'Teddy') Bentley takes Alejandro, the Gunn Zoo llama to a renaissance fair where Alejandro gives rides to small children. Alejandro loves little kids but is not too enamored of adults, although Teddy is high on his list of those he likes. Teddy has the misfortune of discovering a dead body – that of a reverend dressed for the fair as Henry the Eighth. At first, Alejandro is accused of stomping the man to death. It is soon determined that the good reverend has a crossbow dart in his neck. Turns out the reverend is an escaped convict! The tale spirals from bad to worse. Alejandro's life is compromised. Of course our Teddy puts her own life on the line to solve the man's murder. Numerous suspects are revealed, all with a good reason to see the reverend dead. The mystery is a good one – it will keep you guessing. And author Betty Webb has a wonderful sense of humor that keeps the funny bone active. All in all, The Llama of Death is a good read.
