There are plenty of counting books available for very young children and while some are rather ho-hum, others are quite creative and eye appealing. This particular concept book is definitely in the latter category.

The second you open One Spotted Giraffe you can't help but exclaim, 'Wow, this is something special!' There's the head of a large giraffe gazing back at you. Then, when you flip the '1' flap there's another surprise. A smaller giraffe head pops out at you. How cool!

As you turn the pages you'll discover other animals, like zebras, cheetahs, smiley snakes, snappy crocodiles, and so on until you reach ten, brightly colored fish. As you open the flaps you'll also notice that the critter that pops up is in a shape that correspondents to the featured number.

What I also like about this graphically attractive counting book is not only are you practicing counting but also numeral recognition and animal names. I think that provides a lot more bang for your buck. In fact, you might even see if your toddler wants to play the color game too. Try asking if the child can point to a yellow or blue object on the page.
