Children love to ask questions and this inexpensive paperback is loaded with the answers to all sorts of interesting questions about various clever inventions and household items.

For example, you'll discover how the Frisbee was invented, who came up with the idea for Band-Aids, and why Marvin Stone thought paper straws would be a better way of consuming a cold drink.

You'll also learn that the Chinese probably invented playing cards over 1,000 years ago, that the pop-up toaster appeared about 85 years ago and that felt-tip pens were invented in Japan in 1962.

Have you ever wondered which came first – screws or screwdrivers? Or which woman invented the flat bottom paper bag? Or why a ladder was needed to play an early game of basketball? The answers to these and a host of other equally quirky questions can be found in this fascinating book.

Although it is aimed at younger readers, I think a lot of parents will find this a fun read too. When you have finished with the book, try making up your own set of questions about inventions and then see if you can use the Internet to find the answers.
