veryone knows that two wrongs don't make a right, but Darryl Potter apparently never heard the old adage. When a successful architect accidentally fell asleep at the wheel of his vehicle and killed a good friend of Potter's, he was punished with limited jail time and probation.
otter doesn't feel that justice was served by the sentence so decides to take matters into his own hands. First, the former Marine kidnaps the man's twenty year old daughter. Then he heads north into Minnesota's Lake Country.
rying to avert disaster, Mike Barlowe, Potter's former combat buddy, believes he knows how to defuse the volatile situation but that means he has to track down his troubled friend before he really does something stupid.
ut he's not the only person searching for Potter and the kidnap victim - the police, a reporter, and a bounty hunter have also joined the chase. The trick will be finding Potter before his short fuse ignites and a lot of innocent and not-so-innocent people get hurt.

, one of the more macabre thrillers set in this part of the frigid north. Whether that is a good thing or not, you'll have to decide for yourself. Either way, this provocative example of Midwestern noir will keep you reading much later than you normally do.
