While the snow comes down with blizzard force, Jilli is reading to her dog Fiercely. They are reading about a sneaky snow fox, but they are both too frightened to finish. Instead they go to the window to see if they find a red fox in the snow. They see a fat orange tail moving through the snow. That must be the snow fox.

Later Jilli's friend stops by and Fiercely runs out into the snow while the door is open. When they find him, he's trailing the fat orange tail.

Written for the youngest readers, this book is sure to make you shiver. Patricia Reilly Giff has written more than 60 books for children. She won the Newberry Honor award for Pictures of Hollis Woods and then again for Lily's Crossing.
