Poggle and Henry's best friend Lily is having a birthday. The two go down to the beach to see if they can find something really cool to give Lily. Seaweed, a stick, an old hat and a worm don't appear to be appropriate gifts, but then the pair stumbles on something really cool.

'Look,' said Poggle. 'A giant shell.'

It certainly is a very, very big pink, clam type seashell. Since it is open a bit, Henry decides to take a peek, so he wiggles inside the big shell.

'Snap! ... the shell shut.'

Oh dear, now we have a problem. How is Henry going to get out of the shell and what about Lily's birthday party? What a predicament! It looks like Poggle is going to have to figure something out to get his friend out of the closed shell.

Not only does the ingenious Poggle figure out how to free his friend, but in doing so the two also discover that they have just found the perfect gift for Lily.

This cute picture book about the misadventures of Poggle and Henry is bound to please youngsters three years of age and older who have a curious bent and like to explore. It might be fun to try new things, but it is even better to think about what might go wrong if you are taking a risk!
