Author Judy Clemens has brought Casey Maldonado back to her hometown to win the release of her brother Ricky from jail where he is being held on the charge he murdered his girlfriend. We all know the young man is innocent, but the police feel they have the right man.

After two years, Casey is still reeling from the death of her husband and tiny son in a car explosion – a malfunction. While this brought Casey a settlement, it didn't bring her surcease from the pain of their deaths. She's not sure she wants to live, which explains why Death is her constant companion.

Death's appearance to no one but Casey is a strangely delightful touch as the character has a great sense of humor and uses it frequently while waiting for Casey to make up her mind – live or die!

As Casey tries to free her brother, other characters arrive on the scene. Especially the murdered young woman. Who was she really? What was she running from? Why was she running? What was her real name?

Casey and a new player travel to Texas as they scrutinize records to find a woman with the name Death provides Casey.

Dying Echo is an engaging novel with surprises that leap out of the plot, and written with the expertise of one who has a number of novels to her credit.
