ome on. It is time to go to our first soccer practice. First, I put on my special shoes and my team shirt. Then I grab my soccer ball and off we go. At the field I meet the coach and my new teammates. There are both boys and girls.
he first things we do are stretching exercises and some running. That's to make sure we are loose and it will also get us into shape so we can play an entire game. Next up are a whole series of drills that teach us to dribble and pass the ball. Teamwork is very important if we want to win any games.
oach Green divides us up into pairs and we pass the ball back and forth with our feet. We also try to kick the ball into a net called the goal and if we get it in, that's a point!
uess what? Coach Green has made me the goalkeeper for this practice. That means I have to try to keep the ball from hitting the net in the goal box. I can use my hands and I get to wear special, thick gloves.
fter practice is over we all shake hands and then it's time for a cool drink and something to eat. You know what? I think soccer is AWESOME! I bet you will too after you read this book.
sing real photos of children and foldout pages, the author takes the young reader through a typical soccer practice. This is the perfect way of preparing a boy or girl for the experience of going out for a team sport like soccer.
