This is an enchanting little book. It can be summed up by a quote from page 53, 'All of life becomes holy when we engage in ritual prayer, and these are steps I found to help make that kind of magic happen.' Sister Karol is a nun but her work is all encompassing. In her own words, 'Find your own favorite prayers, your mantra ... Whatever God or divine power you call upon, whatever moves you make, whatever words you speak, whatever spell or blessing you choose, all of that now becomes charged with the magic in ritual ...'.

This book is so beautifully written that I could easily find a quote on nearly every page. The first sections are about the importance of prayer and ritual, and the creation of sacred space for ourselves. They are followed by practical instructions on how to create a sacred space, and how to find the rituals that are right for you. After insights on how to approach ritual, the author shares fifty-two spells and blessings in detail. They cover the whole range of human activities.

The strength of Sister Karol's Book of Spells and Blessings lies in its warmth, sincerity and openness. It can therefore be of use to anyone who wishes to know how to create a sacred place in their own life, regardless of religious background. I highly recommend it.
