Youngsters eight years of age and older will learn not only about the basics of weather but they will also discover what causes lightning, thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes and other types of extreme conditions.

You’ll fly into the eye of a storm with a hurricane hunter, visit the Antarctic to see the effects of global warming, and learn how various animals adapt to extreme heat as you page through this informative book.

In the “Focus” section the authors feature extreme examples of bad weather, such as a dust storm in the Gobi Desert, a hailstorm in Munich, Germany, and an ice storm in Quebec, plus a killer drought in Ethiopia and an Australian firestorm.

Although the book doesn’t go into great detail, it does offer a very good introduction to extreme weather conditions. The 3-D illustrations and text will hopefully stimulate the reader to seek more detailed information for other sources.
