My big brother and I do all sorts of things together. James is my best friend. He writes my name for me, plays with me after school and lets me help him rake leaves.

'When you're older, Nick, you won't ever have to take another nap ... but you'll have to rake the leaves,' James tells me. Then I heard, 'Big brothers don't take naps.' Now how cool is that?

On Halloween James takes me trick-or-treating and he shares secrets with me too. On Christmas Eve, when we are supposed to be sleeping, James gives me his flashlight to shine out the window so I can maybe see Santa. James takes me to the library with him so I can get books to read. We do all sort of things together.

Well, all sorts of things except take naps. I still have to take a nap and he doesn't.

But then one day there was a big change in our house. Mom and dad brought home a little sister for my brother and me. Now we have to be very quiet when she is sleeping. And when I hold my little sister, do you know what I tell her? 'Big brothers don't take naps.' I don't think she understands what that means yet, but one day she will!

I think you'll like this picture book. If you have a big brother and you still have to take an afternoon nap, you'll really think this is a cool story. Also, if you have a new little brother or sister, you'll see how you can do things to be a good big brother or sister.
