Little Pip was pretty happy being an only little penguin in the family, but then one day along came The Egg! 'Our family is just right,' Pip said. 'That old Egg can't make it better.'

Mama responded, 'Just wait. You may be surprised.' Little Pip wasn't convinced. Then Mama told Little Pip that he would have to help watch the Egg along with Papa since they had to keep it warm and safe.

'I'm too little to help. I'm still your baby,' he responded.

'You're big enough to help Papa. You're big enough to help me. You're even big enough to help the Egg! Remember that. But don't worry; you will always be our baby,' Mama said.

Little Pip isn't totally convinced that having the Egg around is a good idea. In fact, he continues to complain, but after a long wait the Egg cracks and Little Pip has a new baby brother. 'He looks just like you when you were a baby, Pip!' Mama says.

Suddenly Little Pip realizes having another member of the family isn't so bad after all. Now he has a little brother to play with and watch over. How cool!

Obviously this is the ideal picture book to add to the family library if a new child is on the way and there's a little sibling jealously to deal with. After reading about Little Pip and his situation, your youngster may not feel left out or that no one cares about him or her. In fact, the new arrival may become something to look forward to!
