A
member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Neil Sedaka has taken one of his former hit songs,
Breaking Up Is Hard To Do
, and transformed it - in collaboration with Howard Greenfield and illustrator Daniel Miyares - into a picture book and accompanying CD.
T
he picture book features a toothy little alligator who struggles through waking up and getting ready for school in the morning.
'
Just brush your teeth and then get dressed. When you comb your hair you'll look the best. Now you know it's really true. Wakin' up is hard to do.
'
S
tep by step, the bouncy, rhymed text follows the little fellow from his bedroom and the bathroom down to the breakfast table and then out to the school bus stop where he meets his friends waiting for the big, yellow school bus.
N
o one, least of all a young child, loves getting up in the morning, especially on a school day. But after reading this story and listening to Sedaka singing this song, the task will be easier if not totally fun!
Y
ou can read the book and enjoy the catchy text or pop the CD into a player and sing along with Sedaka as you turn the pages. Either way, this is one book (and CD) that will put a smile on any child's face. The CD also features two other new songs,
Lightnin' Jim
and
Sing
, that you'll enjoy listening to.
