his is the first book of a trilogy. It takes a new look at vampires who are said to be parasites who've lived from the beginning of time, but until the Great Killing of 1870 were not a threat to mankind. Princess Adelle discovers within herself strength of body and mind and begins to understand that true heroism involves sacrifice. She also finds romance. This was a great read.
