If you are a fan of mystery author Lisa Scottoline (as I am), you can't help but enjoy Why My Third Husband Will Be a Dog. The subtitle, 'The Amazing Adventures of an Ordinary Woman' surely reveals a lot.

Scottoline considers herself an Ordinary Woman. Not so. I don't see anything ordinary about her. She is a bestselling author of many, many books. She has extricated herself from two unsatisfactory marriages. She has raised a lovely daughter. And, last but not least, has given loving homes to many animals, ones she kisses on the lips! Dogs, cats, chickens, and a pony. Her dissatisfaction with her home provided work for craftsmen who appreciate the business. She also wrote essays for columns in a newspaper and this book is the result of that part of her life.

And she doesn't wear a bra! I can identify with that. Having only one of those things left that need a bra, I rarely wear one. Anyway. My life is enriched by her books, full of mystery and lots of humor. Thank you, Lisa. She quotes Eleanor Roosevelt, 'A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she's in hot water.' Lisa is a strong tea bag. This book is full of short essays which reveal her life as she lives it. Fun? Absolutely. Even the short quotes on the back cover are enough to make you laugh out loud.

Travel through her life with her. Meet her mom, Mother Mary. She's a hoot. Daughter Francesca is not a bad writer herself. Not much is said about Thing One and Thing Two – her first and second husbands. Which is just as well. Never dwell on the past. I have a friend who is laid up for the next month after a bad fall. I'm going to give her Why My Third Husband Will Be a Dog. Even on rainy days, it will bring sunshine into her life.
