L
isten to your mother!
Now how often have you heard that? Well, the little boy in this picture book has heard it over and over again.
I
n fact, he always listens to his mother! Whether his mother says,
Eat your vegetables!
or
Help me clean the house!
, Ernest always obeys.
S
imply put –
Nice little children always listen to their mothers.
And, Ernest is a very nice little boy. He always helps his mother, especially when it comes to cleaning the house because, as his mother says,
It takes a lot of work to make a house a home.
T
hen one day, this all changes. A new family moves in next door and Ernest asks his mother if he can go see if there is someone to play with. As you know, a nice child (like Ernest) always asks his mother if he can do something.
E
ven although the new neighbors look a little bit weird, Gothic in fact, Ernest accepts their invitation to come inside their house and play with Vlapid, their son.
N
ow, what happens next is really weird. So weird I'm not going to describe what the two boys get into. But let it suffice to say that when Ernest's mother tells him that
Vlapid sounds like a nice little boy and he'll be a very good influence on you
, Ernest's mom is totally WRONG!
